Assignment 4 Week 5
I went onto the online website of Artist Profile which is a magazine based in Australia. I found a really cool article about how famous indigenous artists are painting artwork on interesting new canvases. These artists are painting on wii consoles to help raise money and awareness for the indigenous youth to go to school. Apparently for a long time, indigenous students had a very high dropout rate in Australian university schools. When the consoles are bought, all of the proceeds go to a scholarship fund that helps indigenous students stay in school and get a good education. Already the dropout rate has dropped significantly. It says also that this fund aides to close the wide gap between indigenous people and non indigenous people in Australia.

Assignment 1
1.) Gutenberg created a press that was a bedrock for print presses today. With it he made what is know as the Gutenberg Bible's which are extremely valuable and sold for a considerable amount of money. His technique of printing spread all throughout Europe, it ultimately led to the lowering of book costs which caused books to be made rapidly. This led to a vast increase in literacy, and knowledge.
2.) These advancements continuosly influence printmaking because each artist can express their art through new and unique ways. No print is the same in the printmaking process. The artist can influence his or her art through various techniques; for exanple using newsprint to take off extra ink, a q-tip to shade some areas and lighten others and matte board to effectively wipe away ink. Each print is a unique experience and there is a different outcome each time.
3.) Photocopier art relates to the history of the letter press because it was found using an already used object but in a different way. For example Gutenburg used an old wine press to make his first prints. It's a similiar process beacuase it involves creating an image and going over it again and again until its right. It's different because the process involves different steps and it's easier to make a copy of something then take it in a new direction.
4.)

5.) I understand pretty much all of the vocabulary words, especially the tools we use because I work with them every day. Also the styles are easy to remember since I'm so fascinated by it all.
